Low-profile graphics card for use with laptop or desktop?

i have just bought an ATI Radeon 7500 32mb AGP LP graphics card, and i was wondering if it was only compatable with laptops, because when i tried to put it into my desktop computer it was WAY too small, so i'm thinkin' that (being that this is low profile and all...) it must be for laptops only. am i right?...or wrong?

Actually, low-profile graphics cards aren't compatible with laptops, since laptops have the video chipset built-in to the motherboard. There are some laptops that offer a few different graphics options, but those can only be changed at the factory by the manufacturer, before being shipped to stores.

Low profile cards can only be used in low-profile desktops, the ones which are "pizza-box" or "slimline" style, like some IBM Netvista or Thinkcentre units. Compaq and Dell make some as well. As you've discovered, they don't fit into the slots on regular minitower or tower computers.

Here's a picture of the kind of computer it's designed for...
